Everyday is a Unique, Extraordinary Day at 9:15 AM

Everyday is a Unique, Extraordinary Day A Good Fight

Every day is a new challenge.  From the time you wake up until the time you go back to sleep, there is a battle you need to fight and you have to keep winning for you to stay alive the next day and moving forward.  You get wounded sometimes but that wound can be healed, either easily today, or slowly tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. Healing may take long, but it won't last a lifetime.  Nothing last a lifetime so leave everyday like it is your last. It's just a wound anyway, you are still alive and can keep fighting.

Failure breaks your heart.  It is sad thinking that you didn't make it despite of having a good fight, despite of giving your best.  You feel inferior, you feel down. You feel like everything you have had gone. You expected too much, you hoped too much. But in the end, you end up not making it.  What's more frustrating?  How can you bring back the broken pieces of your heart?

Wordpress custom domain e-mail address using email forwarding at 7:45 PM

Wordpress custom domain e-mail address using email forwarding Good news to WordPress users using custom domain!  You can now create your custom e-mail address using your custom domain and have the e-mails sent to these custom domain to your existing email address. That's the power of e-mail forwarding. Since it's free, this only support up to five (5) forwarding rules.

What is In It and Why Shoul I Use It?

If ever you are looking for ways to have your custom e-mail named after your favorite domain name, this is the perfect way.

Say for example, in my case, I have this http://ocalundan.info domain, I can have my ooc@ocalundan.info e-mail address using this new e-mail forwarding of WordPress.  The e-mail sent to that custom e-mail address will be sent to my existing e-mail address that I specified, say, ocalundan@gmail.com.

Actually, there is another way of doing this but it involves tweaking the details of your domain in your domain service provider.  You can use gmail.com to host these up-to-10 e-mails, like what I did.  But if you did this alternative, WordPress e-mail forwarding will be disabled. 10 e-mails is better than just 5 anyway.  Unlike e-mail forwarding however, the e-mails received in these custom e-mail addresses will be received in your new inbox in gmail.com platform. But then the set-up is a bit complicated.

So why bother if you can just use this simple set-up using WordPress e-mail forwarding?

How will I Use this E-mail Forwarding Feature?

To get started, go to Store → Domains in your dashboard. If you already have a custom domain, you’ll find the new Manage Emails link next to it. If you don’t have a domain yet, you can add one now from the same page.

Enter the new email address you want to create in the first field, and the destination email address in the second field. This way, instead of setting up a new email service, you can keep reading and writing your email like you always did. Any email sent to your new address will arrive at the address you specify.
To make it work you should enter the new email address you want to have in the first field, and your existing email address in the second field.

Email forwarding supports up to five forwarding rules. For example, you can create custom email addresses for up to five people, or create up to five custom email addresses to redirect to the same email (such as sales@yourdomain.com, support@yourdomain.com, warehouse@yourdomain.com.)

If you already set up a third party email provider on your domain, e-mail forwarding will be disabled.

Ten (10) peso increase in minimum wage in Metro Manila at 9:52 AM

Ten (10) peso increase in minimum wage in Metro Manila Just recently, news discussing an increase in minimum daily wage rate in Metro Manila, Philippines of P10 of has been widespread over the internet and the public has mixed reaction on the matter.  Does increase in the minimum wage rate of P10 really mean something substantial to the minimum wage earners?

Update: The Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board has issued Wage Order No. NCR-18 effective October 4, 2013, Click Here.

Various articles were published online discussing the details of this increase.  Even if it has gone a wide publication, we cannot change the fact that it is just P10.  It's just equivalent to a fare for a 5-kilometer jeepney ride.

What does this increase actually mean to the minimum wage earners? What can we buy with P10?

  • 1 sachet of shampoo
  • 1 bar of laundry soap
  • 1 jeepney/tricycle ride
  • 1 sachet of dishwashing liquid
  • 1 pack of instant noodles (not that one in cup)
  • 1 sachet of toothpaste
  • 2 biscuits
  • 1 bottle of water 250ml (from peddler only)
I couldn't think of anything with greater value that you can buy with P10.  How about?

  • 1 kilo of rice? X
  • 1 order of viand for a meal? X
  • 1 LRT/MRT/Bus ride? X
  • 1 can of sardines? X
  • 1 regular load (enough to make a call)? X

This wage increase is really pathetic.

Following are some articles mushrooming the internet discussing the P10 increase in the minimum wage:
  • Ten (10)-peso increase in minimum wage in Metro Manila (wage hike)

The Regional Tripartite Wage and Productivity Board of the National Capital Region (RTWPB-NCR) has approved a P10 increase in the minimum wage in Metro Manila. The Wage Order to implement this increase in minimum wage is yet to be issued by the RTWPB-NCR. The Wage Order will be issued 10 days from its publication and will be effective 15 days after its publication in a newspaper of general circulation.

The minimum wage is composed of the basic wage and cost of living allowance (COLA). COLA is distinguished component of the minimum wage as it is NOT considered in the computation of the 13th month pay. ...
  • Wage hike lowest so far for Metro Manila

LABOR AND BUSINESS groups both normally reject mandated minimum wage hikes, with the former complaining the amounts are not enough and the latter decrying the added cost.

Trade unions are again up in arms over the P10 per day increase granted last week to Metro Manila workers but this time management says the adjustment -- while still a challenge -- is “fair.”

Minimum wages in the metropolis will rise to P429-466/day, effective 15 days after publication of the requisite order. The P10 adjustment -- expected to set the cap for increases in the rest of the country -- is the lowest to have been ordered for Metro Manila since minimum wages began being set by region in 1990. ...
  • NCR workers to get P10 wage hike

MANILA, Philippines (UPDATE) – Good news for workers: The Regional Tripartite Wage and Productivity Board of the National Capital Region (RTWPB-NCR) has approved a P10 increase in the minimum wage in Metro Manila.

"The RTWPC-NCR... unanimously made a decision to increase the minimum wage by P10.00 per day to bring the minimum wage to P466 in the National Capital Region upon the effectivity of the new wage hike," Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said in a statement.

The RTWPB-NCR has also decided to integrate P15 of the existing P30 Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) under RTWPB-NCR Wage Order No. 17 into the basic wage effective January 1, 2014. ...
  • Govt hikes minimum wage in NCR to P466 with P10 increase, effective 2014
The government has approved a P10.00 increase in the salary of minimum wage earners in Metro Manila, Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz announced Friday. But it faces the same problem of compliance by employers.

In a statement, Baldoz said the salary adjustment has increased the basic salary of private sector workers in the National Capital Region (NCR) to P466.00. She cited Wage Order No. 18 of the Regional Tripartite Wage and Productivity Board of the National Capital Region (RTWPB-NCR).

The adjustment will take effect in January 2014. ...
  • Minimum wage earners in Metro Manila get P10 wage hike

MANILA, Philippines—Minimum wage earners from the private sector in Metro Manila can look forward to a P10 wage hike by the end of the month.

Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said on Friday that the Regional Tripartite Wage and Productivity Board of the National Capita Region (RTWPB-NCR) decided to increase the minimum wage by P10 per day upon the effectivity of the wage order.

The wage order, which was issued Friday, is expected to take effect 15 days after its publication in a newspaper of general circulation.

With its effectivity, the minimum wage will go up to P466.

“The RTWPB-NCR also decided to integrate P15 of the existing P30 Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) under RTWPB-NCR Wage Order No. 17 into the basic wage effective 1 January 2014. This will bring the new basic wage to P451 and the new minimum wage to P466,” added Baldoz.

If it's everything you less expected... just smile :) at 4:16 AM

If it's everything you less expected... just smile :) Sigh... Sometimes that's the only thing you can do when you want to hide the frustration that is insisting to reach out from your very deep inside.

Sigh... sigh... sigh... endless sigh... breathtaking...

Sometimes, in the stage of our career, we go up.  Sometimes, we need to take a few steps backward to take a look of what went wrong, to be a better person, and to move forward carrying with you the lessons of life.

Set Your Expectations Low

Like anyone else, I have my expectations. And those expectations come from what I want to achieve, what I want to become.  It isn't right to think that, "I am here and I will stay here" because it's not what a dreamer wants.  And yes, I want to be noticed, I want to shine in my own little way or in big remarkable steps that I make.  Setting your expectation dramatically high will give you nothing but frustration if you fail.  If you are a dreamer and an achiever, even if you don't say anything, even if you don't make it obvious, you have these high sets of expectations to yourself.  Working around those expectations is not easy.  You have to make rules.  But you have to take it easy and maintain it at a workable level.

See Other's Perspective

Even if you admit to yourself that you fail to meet your own expectations, you will hope that others may not see it a failure, but perseverance.  I a world where people see what they want to see and believes what they want to believe, it is really hard to make them think like you do.  People have different perspective of things.  These differences, oftentimes, are irreconcilable.  That is why when you lose your grip and you're out-balanced, some sees it you're clumsy rather than it was really a hard move.  A score is given based on your mistakes, not based on what you did right, no matter how many right you've made.  Their is no such thing as materiality in judgment.  Judgment, when exercise, is always material.

Best Is Never Enough

I did my best, and compared to the people around who do something that really sucks, I'm better. But that's my own perspective of things.  You can't expect someone who is blind-folded to see anything that is happening around.  That person only see what he/she hears.  And when that person hears no good about you, he/she will assume that you're never an extraordinary.  You have to show what you got and what you can do.  But when everything really fall out of control and all that you can do is stay silent, in one corner, clear your mind and make a new beginning. History repeats itself and since you know it may happen again, you're an idiot if you commit the same mistake.

Don't Underestimate

Comparing yourself with others have nowhere to go.  You might be better, you might be the best, but remember that beauty is always in the eye of the beholder.  No one will appreciate what you do if they don't see something interesting about the things you do.  And what makes it more interesting to them is the way you make them see it.

The things you less expect to be the best can be the best, and the things you expected to be noticed, won't even hit by the spot light. It's all about managing your expectations and warning yourself not to underestimate anyone, even if you know that someone really makes no sense.

It's a good laugh imagining that, someone who avoids derivatives, has no experience in consolidation, called a no-tax sense, a life-shatterer, a dumb standard-setter (applying revised PAS 8R for change in accounting estimate retrospectively), moves on with five stars and to the next ladder.  See, I underestimated. :)  Fairly it's because I know myself better.  But lesson learned, underestimating and expecting too much may lead to frustration, and that is proven.

Moving On

Other side of me says that I made a wise decision, other says it's an epic failure.  One of the things I look forward, other than to learn and experience something new, is that, I have the a dream and I'm making it come true.  Well, I don't know if soon I wake up realizing it's a bad dream, but I know there are people around who can always tap may back and say "the sun will shine in while"... "it's busy season you know!".

I'll burry all the frustrations and those unmet expectations and start over.  I'll carry the lessons I got, hoping that tomorrow will be a lot better and that the world will show it's true colors and people will get what they deserve because they do deserve it, not because they force themselves to be called deserving.

Funny that it sounds a bit bitter, but saying these simple things is a bit sweeter, especially for someone who thinks that anyone can change the world, it's just a matter of choice if it's for better or for worse.  As with me, I know who I am, I know what I can do.  I'll make a sound, I'll let you hear me, I'll make you see me, I'll show you what I got... and if at the end of the day, you keep your blindfold, that would be your problem. :)

Global Test Market offers paid market surveys to its members.  You need to be register as a member and set up your account to start answering surveys.  You will be required to complete certain qualifying surveys so that they will know something about you which will be the basis of the types of surveys you will be participating.
